El Arrayan in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico

El Arrayan is located off the beaten tourist path in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. It is a patio-restaurant that conjures up traditional food that an Abuelita would cook with a modern twist. Food is served on vintage-looking oilcloth table covers and tin plates. The exposed roof with open air dining, an arrayan fruit tree in the center of the courtyard and tiled roof makes the dining experience and atmosphere feel like that of an old Mexican hacienda.

The Mexican artwork and musicians makes the place feel so intimate and authentic.

This place is a must while vacationing in Puerta Vallarta. It will be the highlight of your trip!

What is an arrayan? A tree that bears a small and tart fruit.

We started off with cocteles, a Mitchelada.
A Mitchelada is the way to drink beer in Mexico! Pacifico or Corona beer in a cold glass with ice, lime juice and salt!

Camaron Cremoso
Shrimps sauteed with creamy avocado and habanero pepper oil

Tostadas de La Fonda
With crab, chicken, shrimp and home made chorizo served on crispy corn tortilla with black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, fresco cheese and cream

Carnitas de Pato
El Arrayan’s famous dish! Duck with ancho-orange-arrayan sauce

Empanadas de Platano Macho
Plantain dough filled with black beans and asadero melting cheese

Tostada de Pato en Escbeche
light pickled shredded duck on a sesame-corn tostada

Barriga llena, corazon contento

A full stomach makes a happy heart!
