Rosebud on Taylor

Chicago restaurant week (#CRW) is winding down, and I felt a duty to share my most recent meal at the notoriously famous Rosebud in hope that you can get there by the end of CRW week.
I have countless memories with my family at Rosebud, whether it’s a post-shopping dinner at their Rush location, dining al fresco and people watching at Carmine's, or for a special shower or birthday party at any of their locations.  However, I must say, that the original, Rosebud on Taylor, is most special to me because I met one of my best friends, Lindsey, at that location.  The Taylor Street location is extremely charming, and located in the heart of Little Italy.  If you haven’t been, I suggest you go.  They have many amazing Italian classic dishes, and I usually wind up ordering the the brick chicken or the papardelle marinara, but the restaurant week menu made me try new menu items that I fell in love with. I highly suggest you get your Italian fare on, and head to a Rosebud tonight or tomorrow for an unbelievable meal, at an extraordinary value!  We enjoyed service from Angela, and I know she will take care of you too!

My husband and I both ordered meals offered from the $44 Chicago Restaurant Week option.  Everything you see below was included with this other than the wine.

I enjoyed a glass of Barbera, Michele Chiarlo Barbera d’Asti Le Orme, Piedmont, it's my favorite.

We started our evening with a crisp house salad and a bowl minestrone to warm us up on a snowy night.  Both were outstanding.  The salad simple, crisp, cold, and fresh with a tasty Italian vinaigrette type dressing.  The soup is classic, warm, and and so satisfying.

For our entrees we ordered pork chops calabrese and lamb chops oreganato.  How generous are these portions? Both were VERY delicious and we had plenty to take home for lunch/dinner the next day. I enjoyed the spice in the pork chops calabrese, and how the potatoes in the lamb chops absorbed the oreganato sauce like a sponge.

For dessert, we went for the classics - canoli and tiramisu.  The canoli "cake" was out of this world!!!
