Olive Oil from Spain

The first of its kind Chicago Taste of Spain Week, presented by the Olive Oil Commodity Board from Spain (http://www.oliveoilfromspain.com), local restaurants including Vermilion and
Mercat a la Planxa has begun! This week, the restaurants are offering special menu items which feature the Spanish olive oils in unique, unexpected ways. They will transform their menus to include plates inspired by Spain, taking Chicago restaurant goers and myself on a global journey. I am so excited to be a part of this because I studied abroad in Spain. Yo amo España!

Did you know Spain is the #1 producer of olive oil?
Spain produces an average of 1 million tons of olive oil annually!

There are 70 olive varietals grown only in Spain, my favorites are

Picual, Cornicabra, Hojiblanca, and Arbequina.

1 of of 4 olives in the world come from Spain.

Here are some of my favorite Spanish Olive Oil, you must try them!
